Governor Kahiga Evades Pressure to Declare “Tutam” Before Ruto

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga stopped short of openly declaring his support for President William Ruto’s re-election after being pressed by Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire.

Kahiga was attending a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots leaders’ meeting held on Saturday, January 17, at Sagana State Lodge, which was also graced by President Ruto.

Mbarire, who serves as the UDA national chairperson, publicly challenged Kahiga to state his position on the 2027 presidential race, urging him to affirm his support for Ruto’s second term.

“Governor, you are my brother. All these people from Nyeri are on the two-term team. Tell them where you stand,” Mbarire said.
