Teen Goes Viral for Prom Night Money Flex… Weeks Later, Family Launches GoFundMe After Tragic Death

The family of Deon Wiley, a teenager whose story recently went viral after he was seen flexing a stack of cash on prom night, has launched a GoFundMe campaign in his memory following his tragic death.

The fundraising effort seeks support from the public to help cover funeral expenses and to honor his life.

Deon Wiley, a student from Saginaw United High School in Michigan, became widely known online after clips from his prom night circulated showing him displaying what appeared to be a large amount of money while celebrating the milestone event.

The video spread rapidly across social media platforms, drawing mixed reactions and turning the teen into an unexpected viral figure.

Shortly after the viral moment, tragedy struck when Deon was fatally shot at an after-prom gathering on May 22.

According to reports, the incident occurred in a parking lot near a local convenience store following what authorities described as a post-prom event.

His death sent shockwaves through his school community, friends, and online viewers who had only recently seen him celebrating one of the most important nights of his life.
In the days that followed, family members and loved ones came together to mourn his passing while also organizing financial support for funeral arrangements.

A GoFundMe page was created in his name, describing Deon as “deeply loved, full of promise, and with a bright future ahead.” The campaign also highlights the emotional toll on his mother and family as they navigate grief while facing unexpected costs.

The fundraiser has begun gaining attention online as the story continues to circulate, with many people expressing condolences and donating toward the cause. Supporters say the funds will help ease the financial burden of funeral services and allow the family time to grieve without additional pressure.
