Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is urging Americans to pay close attention to the upcoming 2026 midterm elections, describing the vote as a defining moment for the country.
During an appearance on Sean Hannity’s program, Leavitt said the elections would determine the direction of the United States and argued that Americans are facing a choice between two sharply different political visions.
“These are indeed the most important midterm elections in the history of our country,” Leavitt said.
She added that “America truly is at a crossroads,” pointing to issues including border security, policing and taxes as areas where she said Republicans and Democrats have fundamentally different approaches.
Leavitt Draws Sharp Contrast With Democrats
Leavitt argued that voters must decide whether they want to continue policies supported by President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans or move in a different direction.
She cited Republican positions on border enforcement, support for law enforcement and tax policy as examples of what she described as “common sense” policies.
Leavitt then turned her criticism toward Democrats, accusing the party of seeking to fundamentally change the country.
“That's what the Democrats want to do. They want to fundamentally change America. They want to destroy America,” she said.
Those comments were part of a broader political argument in which Leavitt presented the election as a choice between competing visions for the country's future.
Her characterization of Democratic goals is a political claim, rather than an independently established fact.
Midterms Will Decide Control of Congress
The 2026 midterm elections are scheduled for November 3 and will determine control of both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate.
