“Jackass” star Steve-O has taken his health and fitness routine to a new level after constructing an Olympic-length swimming pool at his Tennessee home — complete with an unusual tribute to the franchise.
The heated 82-foot lap pool was built by Pool and Spa Depot and is part of Steve-O’s latest focus on health and wellness.
The comedian told TMZ that his fitness measurements have dramatically improved, claiming his biometrics indicate he is now 7,800% more fit than he was in February.
He has already put the new pool to work, saying he swam more than three miles during its first two days.
Steve-O also decided to turn the concrete foundation into a personal time capsule. Among the items preserved in the pool are his handprints, signature, a one-pound anvil and a medallion commemorating 18 years of sobriety.
However, the strangest keepsake was inspired by his “Jackass” co-star Johnny Knoxville.
According to Steve-O, Knoxville had previously arranged for custom butt plugs to be made for members of the “Jackass” cast, featuring the face of director Jeff Tremaine. Steve-O wanted one of the unusual items permanently placed inside the pool as a tribute to the franchise and the friendships he developed through it.
There was just one problem: Steve-O had misplaced his.
With construction nearing the concrete-pouring stage, he turned to the “Jackass” group chat and asked whether anyone could send him another one overnight. Two eventually arrived in the mail just in time to be included in the pool.
Beyond the unusual tribute, Steve-O says the new facility will allow him to train throughout the year.
He is already planning his next challenge, with two triathlons scheduled for the same week next month. One of those races will mark his first Olympic-distance triathlon.
