Armed Man Arrested Outside Trump Golf Club Days Before Presidential Visit as Secret Service Probes Possible Threat

Federal authorities are investigating whether an armed man arrested outside President Donald Trump's golf club in Southern California posed a potential security threat ahead of the president's planned visit.

The incident unfolded on Sunday outside Trump National Golf Club, where federal agents conducting advance security preparations reportedly spotted a suspicious individual walking around the property.

According to law enforcement officials, the person was observed taking photographs and recording videos of the security measures being put in place for the president's upcoming visit.

Authorities later arrested the suspect, identified by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, California.

A federal law enforcement source told CNN that the suspect was allegedly found carrying ammunition and a publicly available White House telephone number.

While investigators considered the circumstances unusual, officials emphasized that there is currently no evidence confirming the suspect intended to carry out an attack against President Trump.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers searched the suspect's residence, where they reportedly recovered an illegally modified AR-style rifle, body armor, high-capacity magazines and notebooks containing what investigators described as "concerning statements."

Authorities also seized additional items believed to be relevant to the ongoing investigation.

The U.S. Secret Service has taken the lead in determining whether the suspect represented a credible threat to the president but declined to comment on specific evidence recovered during the investigation.

Officials stressed that the investigation remains active and that investigators are examining the suspect's motives, recent activities and any potential connections that could help determine whether there was an actual plan to target the president or whether the incident was unrelated to any imminent threat.

President Trump's security has remained under heightened scrutiny following previous assassination attempts and other security incidents, prompting federal agencies to significantly increase protective measures during presidential travel and public appearances.

No injuries were reported during Sunday's arrest, and authorities have not announced any changes to the president's scheduled visit to Trump National Golf Club.

Investigators say additional details will be released as the inquiry progresses, while urging the public to avoid speculation until the investigation is complete.
